Following the crash, 20-year-old Simeon King and 18-year-old Barbara King of New Providence were left with a disabled buggy on Valley Road/PA Route 372, just east of May Post Office Road in Eden Township at 11:25 p.m. on December 3, state police detailed the affidavit of probable cause.
The 22-year-old Quarryville woman, identified in court documents as Destiney Faith Lundy, had struck their buggy with her 2012 Honda Accord, disabled it, and then fled, according to PSP.
Someone called Lancaster County Wide Communications for the Amish pair and PSP was sent to the scene. Troopers arrived to find the disabled buggy and learned the riders were not injured.
The horse's status was not shared in the initial release or the court documents.
Through an investigation they located the Accord driver, found she too was not injured, and "a confession was obtained," troopers said in the release.
Daily Voice contacted the court on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and received the criminal complaint and affidavit of probable cause on Friday, Dec. 15.
The court documents revealed that Lundy was seen speeding when she struck the buggy as it road west on the shoulder of Valley Road — then she just kept going, Simeon King told PSP Troopers at the scene.
Her front bumper was found at the scene. It had a Vehicle Identification Number from the manufacturer and the Troopers traced it using a national database. When they arrived at Lundy's home on Hollow Road, just off Valley Road, she confessed to hitting something but the details were different than the original police release.
Lundy told the trooper she had fallen asleep at the wheel and only woke up because she hit something, "which she believed of a guardrail," PSP stated in the affidavit, "Instead of turning around and/or going back to the crash scene [she told the police] she was scared and went an alternative path of travel home."
She has been charged with misdemeanor accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property, summary careless driving, and summary disregard traffic lane (single), according to her latest court docket.
Lundy has a record of summary disregard traffic lane (single) in 2019 and summary restrictions on alcoholic beverages 10 months before she was of legal drinking age in 2021, previous court records show.
No court or hearing dates have been scheduled for Lundy's current case at this time.
